Stretch Mark Status Update

Hello Friends!

As some of you may (or may not) know I am in the midst of laser treatments to 'erase' stretch marks. Those little 'cat scratches' that came about as a result of two pregnancies, one of them resulting in a 10 pound baby!

The treatment itself involves some minor discomfort, but the after burn that comes once you're out the door can take your breath away! You know what they say, though...no pain, no gain!

I have noticed that there is less redness and the stretch marks are already less pronounced. They lay flat, in line with the healthy skin.

Now about the after burn...it's intense...

Post Treatment #1

...but fortunately short lived.

I find there is some mild swelling, almost like bloating for 3-5 days following treatment, then it moves into that 'itchy' healing stage for about 2 days before returning to normal (just in time for the next treatment!)

So I'm halfway through the process, as with anything results never seem to come as fast as we want them...but if the promotional pictures are to be believed, I'm in for a smooth tummy this summer! Stay tuned....

New Life, New Job, Same Goals

Hi Friends! It's been a while. I lost my blogging mo-jo a few years back just before everything in my life changed. I've been through a time of extreme reflection, growth and change. I left my marriage in 2017, started an amazing new job at Kelowna's NEW 103.1 Beach Radio in the spring of 2018 and somewhere in there found the love of my life. This period of adjustment has been at it's core, a shift to happiness. Ensuring my daughters are happy and secure in the new arrangement has been of paramount importance. This transition has been so worth while but as with any new journey some of the old, familiar things fall by the wayside. Oatmeal is Magic!

Hello again! First of all I must be clear that I am talking about good, old fashioned, slow cooking oats...rolled or steel cut. Not the instant variety with options like maple, brown sugar or peaches and cream :( I cut oatmeal out of my morning routine a few months ago when I went (mostly) vegan. The reason is that I add protein powder to my oatmeal and I gave up Whey Protein (milk protein). I purchased some Soy and other Vegan protein options, but the dreadful taste turned me off of my 'go-to' breakfast. I enjoy working out in the morning, cardio, weights etc. and so protein is a necessary part of my diet. Since eggs are off the menu, I made the decision to add some 'whey' protein back into my life. So now morning oatmeal is back on with the addition of GNC's delicious Vanilla Protein Powder. It means I can't call myself a Vegan...but after four weeks back on the oatmeal, I lost three pounds. Indian Food Intimidation

Hello friends. I have something I need to get off my chest. For years, I have been intimidated by curry. I don't know a Vindaloo from a Tikka Masala. What I do know is that I always enjoy an authentic Indian meal, I just want to be able to cook one myself! Last night a friend put on a fantastic Indian spread...butter chicken (none for me!) a delicious vegetable curry and a chick pea curry. There was of course naan bread and basmati rice. Delicious. Today I was inspired...I entered the grocery store without a list or any concrete plan. I just knew I wanted a curry dish, I knew what I wanted in it and how it should look and taste.
